How to be saved
“But these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”
John 20:31 · NASB 1995
Before the world was made, Jesus was with the Father in glory. He is the only begotten Son of God, eternally from the Father—not made, not created, and not adopted, but truly God. Through Him all things were made. He is one with the Father in divine nature, glory, authority, power, and honor. He is the radiance of the Father’s glory and the exact representation of His nature.
The eternal Son came forth from the Father and entered the world. The Word became flesh. Without ceasing to be God, He became truly man.
Jesus is the Christ—the Anointed One, anointed with the Holy Spirit at His baptism as King, Prophet, and High Priest. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
He is the anointed King, the Son of David, whose throne and kingdom will never end. He is the Lord of David, the King of Israel, the King of kings, and the Judge of all the earth. He will rule in righteousness from the throne of David in Jerusalem over every nation for all eternity.
He is the anointed Prophet, greater than Moses, through whom the Father has spoken His final word. He reveals the Father perfectly. To know Him is to know the Father; to see Him is to see the Father. His words are the words of God, and all people must listen to Him.
He is the anointed High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek. He is the Lamb of God who takes away sin. Though He knew no sin, He gave Himself as the sacrifice for sinners, was nailed to the cross, bearing sin and shedding His blood for the forgiveness of sins. He died, was buried, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, sat down at the right hand of the Father, and now lives forever to intercede for those who draw near to God through Him.
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, has eternal life and will not come into judgment. He receives the Holy Spirit, is adopted, forgiven, cleansed by the blood of the sinless Jesus, and will be raised to eternal life to reign with Christ in His eternal kingdom and enjoy God’s presence forever. Whoever rejects this truth will be condemned and tormented day and night forever in the lake of fire.
