Eternal Life Through Faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God
Liber I
Eternal Life Through Faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God
About the book
What must a person believe in order to receive eternal life?
This book examines that question from Scripture and argues that the Bible gives a clear answer: eternal life is received through believing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
Beginning with John’s purpose statement in John 20:30–31, the book traces the biblical meaning of saving faith, the identity of Jesus as the promised Christ, and the meaning of His divine Sonship. It explains Jesus as the anointed King, Prophet, and High Priest; the eternal Son of God who became man; the Lamb of God who died for sins, rose from the dead, and now lives forever.
The book also explores what God gives to those who believe: forgiveness, justification, eternal life, adoption, the Holy Spirit, resurrection, eternal security, and the hope of reigning with Christ in His coming kingdom. It also warns soberly of the consequences of rejecting the Son.
The ending chapter addresses common misunderstandings about faith, including the idea that saving faith means merely trusting, saying a prayer, making a decision, adding works, surrendering one’s life, or repenting of sins as a work. Instead, the book calls readers back to the biblical testimony: whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, has life in His name.
This book is offered freely as a gift for anyone who desires to understand what Scripture says about Jesus Christ, saving faith, and eternal life.
